Velez Blanco is an inland village situated in the Comarca de los Velez which is comprised of Velez Rubio and Velez Blanco.
Velez Blanco is steeped in history with its Moorish castle, Mezquita and copper age caves where the famous Indalo painting was discovered. Over the centuries, this image has been adopted as a good luck symbol, most recently becoming the symbol of Almeria. As evening sets in, the castle is beautifully lit up and during the annual fiestas a huge firework display is set off which can be viewed for miles.
